About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Officer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring that all construction activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. The Safety Officer will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to foster a culture of safety on every jobsite.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety programs and procedures
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and local safety standards
- Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for employees and subcontractors
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain accurate safety records, including training logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation
- Collaborate with project teams to review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs)
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues on the jobsite
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- 3–5 years of experience in construction safety management or site safety roles
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required; CSP, CHST, or similar credentials a plus
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to train and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
